Salmon runs continue in the Queen Charlotte Island

Queen Charlotte Islands Fishing Resorts - July 4, 2002

Strong runs of Chinook salmon continue to invade the Queen Charlotte Islands and the MV Charlotte Princess and MV Marabell at Langara Island. More Chinook over 50 lbs. are showing up on the docks almost daily and if the day's high isn't over 50lbs., it's usually in the high 40's. Anglers have been treated to an Independence Day wildlife show as pods of Killer Whales have passed through the area, providing anglers with an up close and personal view of these spectacular creatures. More angler friendly Humpback whales have also been seen.

Over on the west side of the Charlottes, MV Salmon Seeker guests have been limiting out on salmon and halibut and enjoying a thick Coho run through the area. With the increase in Coho limits to 4 per day and 8 per trip, anglers are enjoying battling these feisty and sporty fish. Chinook are averaging in the 25-40 lb. range with some nice fish to 50lbs. Whales have also been seen in the area off Kindakun Point.
