Fishmaster Rob's Report

MV Marabell - July 23, 2004

Greetings from the Marabell!

Most guests are bringing in their limits of salmon, and releasing many more, with the hotspots at Gunia Point, Bruin Bay, Andrews Point and Langara Rocks. This week, we've seen 53 lb and 48 lb Chinooks, with good numbers in the high twenties and low thirties. Coho are getting thick, with two 17 lb and a 16lb in the last few days, and a 118 lb hali was just weighed in.

There are lots of humpback whales around, and quite a few close sightings. They seem to be curious about us but their size is a little intimidating (40 to 50 feet). A school of Pacific white sided dolphins passed by No Name Point this morning and Dahls porpoises are seen regularly.

The weather's great, the fishing's fantastic, and if you're not here you should be!
