About Langara Island

a beautiful King salmon caught at our Langara Island fishing lodgeAnchored at Langara Island, the northernmost tip of the Queen Charlotte Islands, the MV Marabell enjoys four months of abundant salmon fishing. Only 20 miles south of Alaska, Langara Island is the first land-mass migrating salmon meet as they progress down the BC coast. Fishing these waters is similar to Alaska salmon fishing; powerful King salmon and sporty Coho, actively feeding on bait balls common throughout the nearby waters. Biting at anything, these salmon are hungry and aggressive and about as fun to play as any type of fish.

Cohoe Point, Langara Rocks, Lacy Island — all these salmon fishing hot spots are within a maximum of 20 minutes from the resort. The bays, coves, rock outcroppings and inlets provide excellent structure for Chinook salmon and a great place to rest before they continue their journey. 40, 50 and even 60 lb. salmon continue to hit the resort docks throughout the summer as anglers win their battles against these steely brutes.

Massive headshakes and blistering “down elevator” runs are the norm for this halibut fishery, testing angler’s strength, stamina and determination.

Langara Island’s small size allows anglers to circumvent the island quickly, getting them to the best bite as its happening. The small size also means that very few fishing days are lost due to inclement weather. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, soaring eagles, Killer Whales, Humpback whales and fabulous halibut and salmon fishing; you’ll find it all at the MV Marabell.
